The Enosoft Enhanced DV Decoder Configuration Utility is used to provide real-time control of the behavior of the decoder. When more than one instance of the decoder is running, each instance can be independently configured. The configuration data are stored in the operating system's registry. Furthermore, different configurations are stored for different applications that use the decoder.
The above figure shows the main configuration dialog box. This is accessed from the Enosoft Enhanced DV Decoder program group on the computer's Start Menu. The dialog box responds to standard Windows mouse and keyboard input. The various buttons are activated by clicking on the button once with the left mouse button. Alternatively, the keyboard's Tab key can be used to cycle through all the buttons one at a time and the Space Bar pressed once to activate the appropriate button. Some of the buttons also respond to a single right-click of the mouse by presenting a context menu.
Combo BoxThe combo box lists all of the current (active) instances of the Enosoft Enhanced DV Decoder running ob the system. To configure a specific instance, simply select it from the list. To configure all instances at the same time, enable the Global Mode.
Note The contents of the list are updated only when the drop-down arrow is pressed.

The position of each of the supported text overlay items is adjusted using the Position Control Dialog Box. The upper-left corner of the text is mapped onto the co-ordinate space of the decoded video frame. The upper-left corner of the video frame is co-ordinate (0, 0). The upper-right corner is (719, 0). For NTSC-based video, the lower-left and lower-right corners are (0, 479) and (719, 479), respectively. For PAL-based video, the corresponding co-ordinates are (0, 575) and (719, 575).
The co-ordinates of the active item can be adjusted either by using the slider controls or by dragging it with the mouse in the layout panel.
The image of the color bars represents the decoded video frame. The current positions of the supported text overlay items are shown by appropriately-scaled examples of each item. All items are visible on the layout panel, irrespective of their display mode from the main dialog box. There is always one active item in the layout panel and is indicated by a yellow border. The co-ordinates of the active item are displayed directly below the layout panel. The position of the active item can be adjusted using the slider controls or by dragging the item with the mouse while holding down the left mouse button.
Left-clicking on an inactive item causes it to become the active item. Selecting a new active item is also possible by using the item selection buttons in the lower part of the dialog box.
When the Position Control Dialog Box is opened, the active item is determined by the button that was pressed in the Main Configuration Dialog Box to access the Context Menu. Accordingly, one of the Item Selection Buttons in the lower part of the Position Control Dialog Box is highlighted (blue) and the remaining ones are shown in grey. Left-clicking once on one of the grey buttons selects a new active item. The active item is shown with a yellow border in the Layout Panel.
At any given time, one item is active. The active item is shown with a yellow border in the Layout Panel and the corresponding Item Selection Button is shown in blue. The position of the active item is adjustable via the slider controls or by dragging it in the layout panel with the mouse while holding down the left mouse button.
The co-ordinate of upper-left corner of the active item is shown below the layout panel.
Note Adjustment of the active item's position by dragging with the mouse is limited to a resolution of 5 pixels in both the horizontal and vertical directions. To position the active item with single pixel accuracy, use the slider controls. It is recommended that the rough position of the item be set by dragging the item within the Layout Panel first and fine adjustment then made with the slider controls.
At any given time, one item is active. The other items are shown without a highlighting border in the Layout Panel and the corresponding Item Selection Buttons are shown in grey.
The two slider controls are used to adjust the vertical and horizontal positions of the active item. The slider controls respond to standard Windows mouse and keyboard commands. When using mouse control, the adjustment resolution is limited to approx. 4 or 5 pixels. The keyboard must be used to obtain finer adjustment. The following keyboard commands apply to both the vertical and horizontal sliders.
| Left or Up Arrow Key | Decrease by 1 |
| Right or Down Arrow Key | Increase by 1 |
| Page Up Key | Decrease by 10 |
| Page Down Key | Increase by 10 |
| Home Key | Set to minimum value |
| End Key | Set to maximum value |
Controls the vertical position of the active item. See Slider Controls for more information.
Controls the horizontal position of the active item. See Slider Controls for more information.
This determines the maximum vertical ordinate (575 for PAL, 479 for NTSC).
Note The software stores the co-ordinates in a system-independent format. Specifically, vertical ordinates greater than half the maximum value are stored as negative values relative to the bottom of the frame. e.g., for NTSC, a vertical ordinate of 469 is stored internally as -10. The advantage of this is that the same configuration information can apply to both NTSC and PAL systems.
Checking the Preview Check Box causes any changes made to the position of the text overlay items to be sent to the currently selected instance of the decoder immediately (or, if the Global Mode is enabled, all instances), thereby removing the need to press the Apply button. Any changes made will come into effect when the next video frame is decoded. For example, if a DV video is being played in a media player application, the changes will appear immediately. However, if playback is paused, the changes will not appear immediately but rather when playback resumes.
Note Changes made only become permanent if the Position Control Dialog Box is closed by using the OK button. Using the Cancel button or any other means of closing the window (e.g., pressing the Escape key) causes the previous settings to be restored.
The OK button closes the Position Control Dialog Box. Any changes made to the position of the text overlay items remain in effect.
The Cancel button closes the Position Control Dialog Box. Any changes made to the position of the text overlay items are undone.
The Apply button updates the configuration of the currently selected instance of the decoder (or, if the Global Mode is enabled, all instances).
