Enosoft DV Processor Help

Capturing From A DV Device To An AVI or Raw DV File

To capture from a DV device to an AVI file, simply follow the procedure described in Getting Started but select an AVI file or Raw DV file as the output:

Both Type-1 and Type-2 DV AVI files are supported. Enosoft strongly recommends the use of Type-1 DV AVI files.

Provide a name and location for the file to be created and press Enter:

At this point, both the Input and Output stages of the processor are defined. For this example, it is assumed that the source device (typically a DV camcorder) is in VTR mode and that a previously-recorded DV tape is playing. You can control the device's tape mechanism either with the software (see DV Device Control), with the device's own controls or by Smart Device Control.

To start the capture, select the button in the Processor section:

During capture, the number of frames captured will be displayed together with the number dropped (if any).

To stop capture, press the button:

Notice that, unlike the Video Renderer output case, the processed video image is shown within the Output stage of the main window and the audio part of the DV signal is not rendered. The indicator displays are also active.

By default, all the embedded data of the source (timecode, date and time of recording, camera settings etc) are preserved. See Embedded Data Processing for details on how to modify the embedded data.

See here for details on how to automatically create separate AVI files for each scene on the tape.

Unattended Capture

See here for details on how to set a time limit for the capturing process.

See here for details on how to prevent the capture process from restarting if you lock the computer or perform some other task that creates a change in the computer's video mode (e.g., pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete).
